Seminar-
Understanding and Managing Canine Stress
Whether you have a pampered family pooch or a partner in obedience,
agility or other sports, every owner needs to understand and manage
their dog's stress. Long term, chronic stress is tough on dogs.
It can cause weight loss/gain, hair or fur loss, itchy skin, loose
bowels, self-mutilating behavior (biting or scratching until the spot is
raw), excessive barking, destructive behaviors (like ripping things up)
and much more.
The popularity of having dogs participate in varied activities and
sports is on the increase. In order for the dog to have a long,
successful working career, the animal's stress needs to be carefully
managed.
Our lives are busier and so are our dogs. Our dogs go to the dog
park, doggie daycare, classes, dog shows and they travel with us - all
of which add to their lives but can also add to their stress level.
Stress factors and ways to manage the animal's stress will be discussed.
